Initially brought together in September 2015 to perform Zorn's Bagatelles, Julian Lage and Gyan Riley have become two of Zorn's most loyal and inspired musical collaborators. They have recorded over a dozen albums of his compositions for acoustic guitars, in duo and in trio with Bill Frisell. Seven Sonnets is their sixth duo album, a collection of magnificent compositions drawing influences from early music, minimalism, contemporary classical music, film scores, folk, jazz, and many other genres. Two of the most accomplished and renowned virtuoso guitarists in the world perform a superb collection of original music inspired by William Shakespeare's Sonnets. The first volume of Zorn's musical Sonnets contains some of his most touching and intimate creations.
