The film is fantastic! A magnificent film with elements that are no longer found today, a tribute to cinema, a tribute to the arts and music. Fantastic acting and, without a doubt, a strong contender for awards. The union of these two giants of the industry: John William and Steven Spielberg, allows us to reach a large number of people. Very well received during its presentation at the Toronto Festival, Steven Spielberg’s The Fabelmans received the Audience Award. Which makes it a more than credible contender for the Oscars. The Oscar race is officially on! While each country selects its contender for the Best Foreign Language Film trophy and trends emerged from the Venice Festival (The Banshees of Inisherin, Cate Blanchett in Tár...), Toronto gave us an early favorite. By taking home the Audience Award, Steven Spielberg’s The Fabelmans indeed confirmed its status as a credible contender. Not surprisingly, of course, since the director is often synonymous with a golden statuette. But it is now official, especially since, of the ten previous Audience Award winners, all have had their names added to the Oscars list, winning the top prize (Twelve Years a Slave, Green Book, Nomadland) or not. We will still have to wait a few months before knowing in which category(ies) The Fabelmans will be represented. And whether it will be. But a triumph for Steven Spielberg would be all the more beautiful since the feature film is inspired by his childhood, and his love of cinema shines through in the first images, unveiled as the film was about to move Toronto.
