In recent years, the legendary John Williams has recorded a series of exceptional concerts, conducting a selection of his own music with some of the world’s greatest orchestras. Today, Deutsche Grammophon presents a unique collection of these recordings in a limited-edition 7LP box set. ‘John Williams in Concert’ brings together performances of his film scores with the Saito Kinen Orchestra, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the Vienna Philharmonic, as well as the world premiere recording of Williams’ Violin Concerto No. 2 with soloist Anne-Sophie Mutter and the Boston Symphony Orchestra (BSO). The elegant box set includes a booklet featuring original album liner notes, a new essay on Williams by renowned film music author Jon Burlingame, reminiscences from Williams himself, Anne-Sophie Mutter, and some of the other musicians involved in these recordings, as well as a selection of concert and portrait photographs.
