Plastic Ono Band is John Lennon's first solo album. Released on December 11, 1970, John and Yoko had started writing and making demos at Abbey Road during the summer. After the breakup of the Beatles, John and Yoko took a period of reflection and experimentation, resulting in the songs of Plastic Ono Band largely influenced by Arthur Janov's primal scream therapy.
John managed to find within himself an emotional depth and honesty that few artists had reached before. The result: perhaps the most honest and emotionally raw album an artist has released. With a small core group, consisting of Ringo Starr on drums, his old friend Klaus Voorman on bass, and co-produced by Phil Spector, the album ranks in the top 10 of the UK and US charts.
It is now considered the best solo album of John Lennon's career with classics like Mother, Working Class Hero, Isolation, God. The singles Give Peace A Chance, Cold Turkey, and Instant Karma! (We All Shine On) are included in this reissue.
