People of Celtic culture throughout ancient Europe were fascinated by reed instruments and crafted large horns and trumpets in many shapes, including the Carnyx, a 2-meter-long bronze trumpet mounted on a stylized animal head. One of these instruments was found at Deskford, Scotland, in 1816 and was restored in the 1990s.
