Quatuor avec piano numéro 2 Opus 26, Quatuor avec piano en La Mineur
Description
After a period as a composer at the court of Detmold, Brahms returned to Hamburg, his hometown, in January 1860. Here, in relative tranquility, he explored the repertoire, which was rare at the time, for piano quartet. The Piano Quartet No. 2 received a very warm welcome in Vienna, and Clara Schumann even preferred it to her Piano Quartet, Op. 25 (available under reference 8.572798 from Naxos). Its lyricism is intensified by the magnificent romantic Adagio. Mahler's vibrant Piano Quartet in A minor dates from 1876.
