Sergio Tiempo, “the most dazzling and spontaneous pianist of his generation” (Gramophone), is back with Legacy, his new solo recital.
Featuring major works by Beethoven, Chopin, Prokofiev, and Villa-Lobos, this new album paints an emotional musical portrait of the Tiempo family members. Sergio Tiempo chose each piece based on the personalities of his family. The Appassionata sonata for his mother, the legendary music educator Lyl Tiempo, an Intermezzo by Brahms for Karin Lechner, his sister, with whom Sergio forms a famous duo, a tango by Piazzolla for his father Martin Tiempo, a longtime friend of Martha Argerich. His niece Natasha Binder, an emerging pianist, Maud, Sergio's wife, and their children are also part of the inspirations for this program. In total, a deeply personal and moving project by “one of the most important pianists of our time” (Musicweb).
