Anna Fedorova presents Brahms' latest works for keyboard. "One gets the feeling that, in his late works, Brahms speaks to us in a more intimate voice than ever. This music is very personal, full of tenderness, nostalgia, love, and peaceful meditation," explains Fedorova. "The unbreakable bond he shared with Clara Schumann remained a central element of his inner world. She was one of the first to see these manuscripts, and her presence seems to accompany them discreetly." Opus 117 includes three sets of melodies without words. Regarding opus 118, Clara writes: "It is simply wonderful how your inner self bubbles, shines, whispers, constantly inhabited by the grandeur and depth of ideas!" With opus 119, the keyboard seems to once again contain an entire orchestra, just like the early works that the young Brahms presented to Robert Schumann forty years earlier.
