La Chauve-souris

Description

Puisque the Argentine conductor no longer deigns to perform in lyric theaters, there remains this studio version of the most spirited of Viennese operettas to console oneself with.
Recorded in 1975 in Munich where he conducted it so often, the cast brings together the great team of the time: Hermann Prey and René Kollo, Lucia Popp and Julia Varady, two sublime sopranos who ended their careers too early and, somewhat atypically as Prince Orlovsky, the bass Ivan Rebroff, a variety singer well known to French television viewers.
The whole thing sparkles like a Champagne that would never go flat.
