L'Offrande

November 1652. The famous Parisian lutenist Charles Fleury, sieur de Blancrocher, has just died. To pay him a final tribute, his friends Froberger, Couperin, Gaultier-le-Jeune, and Dufaut gather and reminisce about the musical evenings spent together at his home, where he loved to host traveling artists. Their four "Tombeaux," poignant musical epitaphs written in memory of Blancrocher, are gathered here. They testify to the esteem in which the musician was held. However, from this exceptional lutenist, only one piece has survived: the Offrande, which concludes this new recital by Pierre Gallon.
