Description
I had read On purge Bébé! even before composing Pinocchio. I told myself: "This is a wonderful play... but it's not possible to make an opera out of it." And when I say that, it means I'm going to do it, it's like a kind of challenge I set for myself! A lot of things pleased me in this play. It is quite mean, in the sense that it gives the image of a sort of self-satisfied, pretentious, ignorant little bourgeoisie, and of total bad faith.I believe that no one has ever made an opera based on Georges Feydeau – not that I know of. We don't think of doing Feydeau at the opera...
