Jinhyung Park, winner of the 2023 International Piano Competition Prix Jaén, explores the versatility of his instrument through three masters of the 19th century. Johannes Brahms's Handel Variations - a birthday gift to Clara Schumann - unfold an infinite palette of pianistic and motivic resources, while Enrique Granados's Los requiebros offers a dazzling interpretation of the jota, a Spanish folk dance. The impressive Piano Quintet No. 2 by Antonín Dvořák is carried by a melodic line that seems to reveal the very soul of the composer. The Lauréat series is a precious and always captivating showcase of the artists of tomorrow. Founded in 1953, the Prix Jaén has become one of the most prestigious awards, rewarding contemporary Spanish composers and benefiting from significant international participation, a renowned jury, and exceptional laureates. The Quatuor à cordes Breton is the string quartet in residence at the International Piano Competition Prix Jaén since 2017 and has performed, for example, with the 2018 laureate, Honggi Kim, in Robert Schumann's Piano Quintet in E-flat major.
