A Mile South Of Heaven

Description

Jess Williamson has forged a unique voice in American music: crystalline, virtuosic, and inimitable. Born in Texas and based in Los Angeles, this singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist has spent nearly ten years carving her own path at the crossroads of independent folk, alt-country, and a deeply personal and introspective tradition. With her seventh studio album, she explores new creative horizons. Produced by Shooter Jennings, this album sees Williamson's art find its ideal counterpart. Jennings brings an authentic sensibility and a sharp producer's instinct honed over the decades, and together, they have created twelve songs that pay tribute to the power and breadth of classic country while remaining resolutely contemporary. Williamson's voice remains the central instrument: present, authentic, and charged with emotion, it commands silence. But with Jennings at the helm, the soundscape is richer and broader than anything she has produced so far - full of texture, warmth, and that ineffable atmosphere, a blend of Nashville and Laurel Canyon, that lies somewhere between Linda Ronstadt and Waylon Jennings.
