Misa Tango
Description
This Missa in Buenos Aires, called Missa Tango, is the work of composer and conductor Martin Palmeri. Composed for choir, orchestra, piano, and bandoneon and premiered in 1996, it achieved great success and has been performed in many countries. Its style, based on syncopated rhythms and harmonies characteristic of tango, combines with traditional forms of so-called classical music. Additionally, there is a part dedicated to a mezzo-soprano and the presence of a bandoneon that contributes to its exoticism. In terms of the libretto, the work follows the ordinary of the Latin mass in its six movements of considerable length. Not very demanding for the voices and intended for amateur ensembles, the score features quite refined orchestration and offers beautiful instrumental interludes (the fugue of the Credo, the beginning of the Sanctus, Agnus Dei). As a bonus, three arias by Astor Piazzolla, magnificent in their sensuality, accompanied by bandoneon, piano, and cello, take us back to the roots of Nuevo Tango. Let us commend the fervor of the Astoria ensemble's interpretation. A must-discover in these gloomy times!Buy Misa Tango at the best price
