JeGong returns with their second full-length album and continues their enchanting musical journey inspired by the spirit of krautrock, early electronic music, pulsating ambient, and experimental rock. With "The Complex Inbetween," percussionist Dahm Majuri Cipolla (Mono, Watter) and bassist/synth and guitar player Reto Mader (Sum Of R, Ural Umbo) give a dazzling spin to the timeless music of genre innovators such as Can, Faust, and Neu! by incorporating louder and more abrasive elements to create a mind-bending odyssey into the uncanny. Born from the collision of Mader’s most unreal moments in musical associations and Cipolla’s hands, these eight new compositions form the duo’s mythical realm, their act of meditation. As the birthplace of electronic music, krautrock is often thought of in terms of mechanics rather than human, but Mader and Cipolla succeed in uncovering a human side that has always been present in the music of their forebears. Elements of atmospheric drone, evoking somber feelings, driving rhythms, resonant pulses, desolate ambiences, shuffling footsteps in the dark of night, and mesmerizing mellotron sounds are all combined in a deeply "human" communal obsession. These two seasoned musicians have an intimate understanding of their source of inspiration as well as tremendous skills in the application of its principles, as film buffs and soundtrack lovers with a keen sense for atmospheres and emotions.
