This record returned from the pressing plant the day after Jeff Beck's death was announced. We present it now as a tribute to an influential and respected musician. The "Jeff Beck Group" that recorded these eight tracks at the BBC studio in Paris in June 1972 was a jazzier, more instrumental band than in its previous incarnations. The focus is on Beck's soloing talents, counterbalanced by Max Middleton's elegant keyboard touches and Bobby Tench's melancholic vocals. The tracks are drawn from Beck's entire career to date, and there is also a previously unreleased version of Bill Withers' "Ain't No Sunshine" as well as a definitive version of "Definitely Maybe". The sound quality is excellent, and the album comes with full credits and personal notes.
