Songes Transatlantiques

Description

Following several major trips to Latin America, Cuba, and New York, saxophonist Jeanne Michard decides to form a group around a repertoire in line with her early influences: jazz and Latin and Afro-Cuban music.
She then brings together pianist Clément Simon, double bassist Maurizio Congiu, and percussionists Natascha Rogers and Pedro Barrios to record this first project as a leader.
In "Songes transatlantiques," she revisits her travels through music, making the percussion converse with harmonies that evoke those of traditional jazz, the original groove brilliantly led by the duo of percussionists thus rhythmically accompanying the cadences of the piano, double bass, and melodies of the tenor saxophone.
An album that carries us away by telling stories, daydreams... dreams.
