Clavier Bien Tempere Livre II

Description

Two years after the release of a record dedicated to the first book of the Well-Tempered Clavier by Johann Sebastian Bach, Céline Frisch presents today the second volume of this emblematic work. Bach composed the second book 22 years after the first, in 1744. However, these two volumes would not be printed until 1801 and would inspire many composers over the centuries. After a series of recordings with the Café Zimmermann ensemble, of which she is a co-founder, the harpsichordist returns to the recital with a program drawn from her favorite music. Through these preludes and fugues, she reminds us that beyond a technical exercise, the Well-Tempered Clavier is also a work of pure pleasure, like a constant rediscovery. "Play frequently the fugues of the great masters, particularly those of Johann Sebastian Bach. Make your daily bread from his Well-Tempered Clavier," declared Schumann.
