Chopin 14 waltzes

Step by step, Jean-Marc Luisada continues his exploration of Chopin's music on record, with a recent new version of the Mazurkas and the Ballades. Having evolved musically a lot over the past 25 years, he has also chosen to revisit the Waltzes, 25 years after his first version of this cycle, which had established him at Deutsche Gramophone, just a few years after his prize at the Chopin Competition in Warsaw. It was a resounding event in the world of records, and the success in France at the time had approached 100,000 copies sold! Jean-Marc Luisada has chosen to return to Chopin's Waltzes with the same artistic director as on his previous DGG recording, Cord Garben, with whom he had perfectly collaborated. Both have evolved in this repertoire. Cord Garben, recalled for this project by Luisada, was a close associate of Michelangeli, and has also associated his name with recordings by Karajan, Argerich, Abbado, Barenboim. The selection of 14 Waltzes is here complemented by 8 posthumous Mazurkas (another three-time rhythm!), which were not included in the box set of Mazurkas by Luisada, previously released by RCA Red Seal in 2008.
