Hommage à un pionnier de la musique moderneKarlheinz Stockhausen (1928 - 2007), pionnier de la musiqueélectroacoustique et du son spacialisé, nous présente lui-même la genèsede son oeuvre, Mantra : « I was sitting next to the driver, and I letmy imagination run free... I was humming to myself... I heard thismelody and everything fell into place very quickly: I had the idea of asingle figure or musical formula that would unfold over a very longperiod of time... » Created in 1970, the piece is composed for anensemble of two pianos, wood-block, antique cymbals and for a ringmodulator reproduced today by synthetic electronic sounds. Mantra is anemblematic work of its time, a founding moment of the psychedelicexplosion of the '70s.
