The project was born from an unusual meeting between Jean Claude Vannier, nicknamed "the Rare Bird" by the press, and Vincent Beer-Demander, a famous mandolinist from Marseille and a pioneer of the revival of this small Mediterranean lute. Vannier, best known for his work with Serge Gainsbourg and Jane Birkin, has a career spanning nearly 60 years, starting in 1968. Unlike other composers like Vladimir Cosma or Ennio Morricone, Vannier has created a poetic and offbeat album, where the mandolin multiplies to create a unique orchestral sound palette, blended with the accordion.
