Description

Child of a family of textile industrialists, he began his secondary studies in Compiègne and completed them with flying colors at the Lycée Janson-de-Sailly in Paris. At 17, he joined the Second Armored Division of General Leclerc and was one of the first French soldiers to enter Strasbourg. In 1945, he would receive the Croix de guerre.
Back in Paris, after a few appearances at the Sorbonne, he worked as a stylist in his uncle's company and then at Hermès, but it wasn't really exciting... He preferred to turn to the world of theater and enrolled at the Cours Simon. His pleasant physique and impeccable diction helped him become a well-liked actor both on stage and on screen. In 1955, he made his debut in music and performed for the first time at Bobino in 1961, and it was Eurovision with Nous les amoureux… A global success!
