Description

Jean-Christophe Cholet and Matthieu Michel: a 20-year partnership! The story begins about twenty years ago. Jean-Christophe Cholet (piano) and Matthieu Michel (bugle) meet during a creation by Mathias Rüegg (Vienna Art Orchestra). Two records testify to this collaboration: Benji (1998), in duo, and Whispers (2016) on which Ramon Lopez (drums) and Didier Ithursarry (accordion) were spontaneously invited. Ramon Lopez and Didier Ithursarry complete the duo's compositions without ever distorting them. The original breath of two takes on a new dimension with three or four. A natural ease in the interaction between the musicians proves how this Whispers was conceived in the best possible way: a search for bare essentials and simplicity, paving the way for the fluid expression of deeply alive and personal songs. Continuing in this desire for openness, the quartet has been enriched by the presence of Swiss double bassist Heiri Känzig for its new creation. He complements this intense and profound music thanks to the unique roundness of the double bass sound that characterizes it.
