When the cream of French indie rock pays tribute to the former US rock enfant terrible, the effort deserves special attention. And listening to the album, that's the least one can say, as the opus is full of gems and reminds us that the man with the impressive discography (we're talking about a hundred records) was not only one of the last true American rockers, but also knew how to compose real punk and garage anthems with irresistible melodies. 14 "local" bands throw themselves wholeheartedly (with guitars and some synths!) into the repertoire of this brilliant "retard" (real name Jimmy Lee Lindsey Jr) who was found dead in his bed at the age of 30 on January 13, 2010, surely a victim of a formidable cocaine-alcohol mix. Four years later, the new label Teengae Hate Records couldn't have started its career better with such an opus. But did it have a choice with a name directly inspired by our dark hero's first album? To support them in the exercise, the following answered the call: Von Pariahs, Kap Bambino, Uncommonmenfrommars, Mensch, Cheveu, Zëro and on the B-side of the vinyl, The Magnetix, Ned, Myciaa, JC Satan, Diider Wampas & Bikini Machine, The Liminanas and H-Burns. High-flying covers that retain the style of each band (some even choosing French) while not betraying the original. An essential album and one of the most exciting of this autumn season, all categories combined.
