Jay Chattaway made his debut arranging charts for Maynard Ferguson's orchestra before becoming a key composer for genre films in the 80s, a career path that ultimately led him to the musical captain's chair for various Star Trek television series and films. Silver Bullet from 1985 – one of the greatest werewolf films of a decade full of them (e.g., An American Werewolf in London) – marked the beginning of his odyssey, but he was already skillfully blending orchestral and electronic timbres with some unexpected flourishes, such as classical guitar on "Looking for Mr. One-Eye." For the very first vinyl reissue of the soundtrack, we accessed superior sound sources, updated the cover art, and pressed it on "silver bullet" scarlet and gray vinyl to match both the wheelchair of the paraplegic protagonist Marty and the projectile that ultimately takes down the beast.
