Stabat Mater - Salve Regina

Description

Pergolesi completed his Stabat Mater a few days before his death, on March 17, 1736, prompting comparisons with another mythical figure, Mozart composing his Requiem. It is here framed by three other masterpieces of the genre pianto in a similar spirit of bittersweet sadness. Born in Buenos Aires to Slovenian parents, Bernarda Fink studied at the Instituto Superior de Arte del Teatro Colón. Today, her repertoire spans from the baroque to the 20th century and she regularly performs with major international orchestras such as the Vienna Philharmonic and the Berlin Philharmonic as well as with famous baroque ensembles. Among the conductors she works with are Nikolaus Harnoncourt, René Jacobs, Mariss Jansons, and Riccardo Muti. Since the beginning of her career, Bernarda Fink has been acclaimed in the largest concert halls in Europe and Argentina. She was recently heard in the role of Irene (Theodora) under the direction of Ivor Bolton at the Salzburg Festival and in the role of Idamante in the production of Idomeneo by Luc Bondy under the direction of Jesús López-Cobos at the Teatro Real de Madrid; she also recorded this last role for harmonia mundi with René Jacobs. She gives singing recitals in major musical centers in Europe and America. Bernarda Fink has participated in over 50 recordings. Anna Prohaska studied at the Hanns Eisler Hochschule für Musik Berlin with Norma Sharp, Brenda Mitchell, and Wolfram Rieger. She is closely associated with the Staatsoper in Berlin where she has notably played Blonde, Oscar, Tebaldo, Poppea (Agrippina), and Anne Trulove, under the direction of conductors such as Daniel Barenboim, Philippe Jordan, Ingo Metzmacher, and René Jacobs. Her work at the Salzburg festivals includes concerts with the Berlin Philharmonic and the Cleveland Orchestra as well as with Don Giovanni (Zerlina) and Al gran sole carico d'amore by Luigi Nono. She has also performed at the Lucerne and Aix-en-Provence Festivals and in concert with Claudio Abbado (Berlin Philharmonic and Simón Bolivar Symphony Orchestra), Sir Simon Rattle (Berlin Philharmonic and Vienna Philharmonic), and Pierre Boulez (Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra). In recital, she is heard with Eric Schneider, with whom she records her first solo recital album.
