Janis Joplin is one of the most revered singers in Rock & Roll, a tragic and misunderstood figure who electrified millions and explored new creative avenues before her death in 1970 at the age of 27. The soundtrack of the critically acclaimed documentary, Janis: Little Girl Blue, reveals Janis Joplin at the height of her career and contains previously unheard notes from Oscar-nominated director Amy Berg as well as rare vintage photos and reproductions of letters written by Janis. An incredible anthology covering her entire career, Janis: Little Girl Blue (original soundtrack), brings together 17 essential live and studio performances, including must-have solo versions and tracks from the band Big Brother & the Holding Company. The album includes a previously unreleased version of "Piece of My Heart," recorded live at the Generation Club in New York in April 1968 during the concert for the vigil of Martin Luther King. Janis: Little Girl Blue features a first recording of "Careless Love" by ''Lead Belly''; live performances with the band Big Brother & the Holding Company; the Kozmic Blues Band; Janis live at the Woodstock festival (1969) and at the legendary Express Tour festival (1970); as well as studio performances from the four original albums.
