For this new album, Jan Lisiecki has chosen to highlight the rarely recorded orchestral works from the repertoire of Frédéric Chopin. The young Polish pianist Jan Lisiecki is undoubtedly one of the best advocates of the romantic repertoire of his generation. He particularly thrives in the music of Chopin, whose international career was launched by his recording of the two piano concertos made in 2010 with the Sinfonia Varsovia and Howard Shelley at just 14 years old. Notably featured is La Grande Polonaise brillante - the end credits piece from Polanski's The Pianist - recorded only once by Zimerman and Giulini in 1979, and available only in the complete Chopin set from 1999. The program, recorded with the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchester under the direction of Krzysztof Urbanski, demonstrates Lisiecki's immense technical mastery and interpretative maturity, thus completing the recording of Chopin's orchestral repertoire.
