"The enthusiasm of saxophonist Jan Harbeck for the quartet he has led since 2007 is stronger than ever - and for good reason: his music constantly moves in new directions, as evidenced by his latest album, BALANCED, which will be released on November 18, 2022.
The Jan Harbeck Quartet has been filling venues in Denmark and Europe for years and already has several albums that have been both critically and commercially successful, including IN THE STILL OF THE NIGHT (2008), COPENHAGEN NOCTURNE (2011), and VARIATIONS IN BLUE (2014), the latter in collaboration with American saxophonist Walter Smith III.
While Harbeck has often drawn from the American songbook, on his previous album, THE SOUND THE RHYTHM (2019), he presented four of his compositions. One of them, the opening track Lighter Shades, quickly found its place on several Spotify playlists and today has over 6 million streams on the platform.
The repertoire of this new album is entirely composed by the saxophonist who wanted to showcase the sound of the group with original themes."
