Hold on

Description

We had left British singer James Hunter and his five accomplices in 2013 with the excellent "Minute by Minute", a pure Rhythm & Blues anthem with a deliciously vintage feel. A precursor of the English neo-soul wave and a touring companion of Aretha Franklin, Van Morrison, Etta James or Willie Nelson, the Colchester native has exiled himself to California to the Penrose studios in Riverside, the Californian outpost of Brooklyn soul label Daptone. The fourth album by The James Hunter Six, "Hold On!", remains true to the polished productions and luxurious orchestrations of the sextet. Rumbas, boleros, bossanovas and even soft-rock enrich a groove and a swing that are simply unstoppable.
