Three works composed for the violinist James Ehnes by three different composers, recorded for the first time! The music of James Newton Howard will be familiar to film lovers around the world. Among the 120 film scores he has composed, one can mention "The Hunger Games." When he received the request to write a concerto for James Ehnes and the Pacific Symphony, Howard admitted that he felt "thrilled, enthusiastic, inspired, and ultimately... terrified." The Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Aaron Jay Kernis composed for Ehnes for the first time in 2007 "Two Movements" (with bells) and, a few years later, the violin concerto followed. The musical relationship between Bramwell Tovey and James Ehnes dates back to 1990. "Stream of Limelight" gives James's incredible technique the opportunity to shine, and it is a superb finale to this fascinating album.
