Oriki Duuru

Description

On May 4, 2024, Jamael Dean sat at a grand piano at 2220 Arts + Archives in Los Angeles. He didn't know what he would play until his fingers touched the ivory. For an hour, this prodigious jazz talent improvised a solo piano set, seamlessly blending original compositions, improvisations, and reconstructions of jazz standards. Oriki Duuru, which means "piano poems" in Yoruba, is a full recording of what transpired that night.
