Alt-rap dissident Jam Baxter announces his new solo project, 'Fetch the Poison'. Conceived during an alcohol ban in Mexico, the album is Baxter's first to be composed in sobriety – though his hallucinatory style of storytelling and his gallery of monstrous characters are back. The lyrics of 'Fetch the Poison' weave Baxter's Latin American experience with visions of a macabre alternate dimension: sun, sea, and shimmering landscapes are stained by hollow-eyed addicts, shady bartenders, and scorned lovers. The rapper includes a number of spoken-word tracks that echo the prose of his now out-of-print book Off-Piste. The album also features Blah Records' Nah Eeto and Black Josh, as well as DJs Sammy B-Side and Jehst, alongside Brazilians NOG, Black Alien, and Xama. Baxter reunites with his regular collaborator Chemo on production – now under the moniker Forest DLG – for much of the album, with appearances from Jack Danz, Dr Zygote, Wundrop (CMPMD), and Midlands electronic mainstay Lenkemz. 'Fetch the Poison' is Baxter's seventh solo album.
