« The Above Ground Sound of Jake Holmes » is the first album by American singer-songwriter Jake Holmes, released in 1967; it is a striking example of psychedelic folk-rock from the second half of the 1960s. The album is characterized by a minimalist and unique sound: the tracks are primarily built around the voice, two electric guitars, and a bass, without drums, thus creating an intimate, ethereal, and almost hypnotic atmosphere.
