THE GRIOT OF MODERN TIMES - - - - - An engaged singer and talented musician from Burkina Faso, Jahkasa is the originator of a style he calls 'Balafon Reggae'. This son, from a family of griots and musicians in Ouagadougou, moved to France in 2009. He released his first album in 2014: 'Pompafric', quickly followed by a second in 2016: 'Enfants du Pays'. His collaborations with artists such as Natty Dread, Toure Kunda, Yaniss Odua, Fantanh Mojah, and the musicians of Danakil have contributed to a mutual richness. With the album 'Née chikora', released in 2019, he swept all the awards in his country: four Marley d'or, a first in Burkina Faso, and was nominated at the Victoires du Reggae for 'best African reggae album' in 2017 in France, as well as Kunde for best artist of the diaspora.
