Before becoming the iconic singer of the group Inner Circle, Jacob Miller had released several solo albums, including the magnificent « Who Say Jah No Dread ». VP Records presents us with a completely reworked and remastered version of this landmark album, with previously unreleased remixes by Augustus Pablo, who was his producer. Note: Jacob Miller recorded his first singles during his adolescence. « Love is a Message » and « My Girl Has Left Me », which were released in 1968 by producer Coxsone Dodd's Studio One label. He was then spotted by producer Augustus Pablo, who played his tracks on his Sound System. Jacob worked with Pablo and found success in 1974 thanks to « Keep on Knocking », a new version of « Love is the Message ». Several singles followed, including « Who Say Jah No Dread", recorded over the instrumental "555 Crown Street ». In 1976, Miller was recruited by the group Inner Circle. They recorded many hits, including « Tenement Yard », and he became one of the most popular singers in Jamaica. In April 1978, he took part in the One Love Peace Concert held at Kingston's National Stadium; the event brought together leading Jamaican artists such as Peter Tosh and Bob Marley, the groups Culture and The Mighty Diamonds, as well as Big Youth. That same year, Miller appeared with other Reggae stars in the film Rockers and released several solo albums. Inner Circle signed a record deal with Island Records, ensuring them international distribution, but their career was halted when the singer died in a road accident in 1980.
