"Bloque 6" (1968) by Juan Carlos Calderón is a milestone in the history of modern Spanish jazz, quite different from the later phase of his career when he incorporated fusion elements under the influence of funk, disco, and even flamenco. For the recording of this album, he surrounded himself with leading Spanish jazz musicians such as Pedro Iturralde, Vlady Bas, and Pepe Nieto.
