The kaleidoscopic ensemble of fifteen musicians IzangoMa may only release its first album on the prestigious British label Brownswood Recording this coming spring of the northern hemisphere, but the roots of the collective date back to the meeting of Sibusile Xaba (vocals/keys) and Ashley Kgabo (synths/snare drum/beatbox) in 2016. The album is the logical continuation of this journey. Sibusile Xaba reveals a side of his virtuosic talent at the cardinal opposites with the familiar folk sound for which the public knew him.
In the world of IzangoMa, the moon sings sweet melodies and children rejoice in laughter. Worries are just a distraction and joy is the ultimate quest. It is a declaration of love in its highest form, lucid, unrestrained. The ensemble is a South African group of Mozambican and South African musicians.
