She Composed - Music by Female Composers

With the double album « She Composed - Music by Women Composers », a project that is at once artistic, educational and culturally engaged comes to life, combining musical rigor with editorial reflection. This publication presents piano works by women composers from several centuries and diverse cultural contexts, organized by increasing difficulty: from short, expressive pieces to large-scale works that are technically and musically demanding. The program covers a broad historical and stylistic range. It extends from the Baroque dances of Élisabeth-Claude Jacquet de la Guerre and Elisabetta de Gambarini, to the Romantic piano literature of Emilie Mayer, Clara Schumann, Fanny Hensel, Louise Farrenc and Agathe Backer Grøndahl, to the major voices of the 20th and 21st centuries such as Lili Boulanger, Mel Bonis, Karen Tanaka, Alicia Terzian, Dorothea Hofmann and Philippine Schick. Women composers from Latin America — including Florence Price, Teresa Carreño, Maria Matilde Alea, Beatriz Lockhart and Lia Cimaglia Espinosa — also occupy an important place, bringing rhythmic, folkloric and urban influences. The heart of the project lies in its clearly structured pedagogical concept. The works were chosen to accompany pianists from the earliest learning levels up to an advanced, concert-ready stage. Miniatures like Hoe Cake, Corn Cake by Florence Price or Das Kaninchen - melancholisch by Dorothee Eberhardt open the journey, while major works such as the Thème et Variations by Lili Boulanger or the Metamorphosen, op. 52 by Philippine Schick constitute its culmination. This progression makes audible both the technical evolution and the deepening of expression.
