Iris Temple is a band, or more precisely a duo, or as they would simply say: two best friends who speak the same musical language. The rather vague definition that the duo gives of Iris Temple could be the direct result of their distrust of a music industry that seeks to define everything, to turn everything into a product, and to exhaust everything around it. Indeed, every aspect of the creative process of Iris Temple seems to defy the conventions of the industry. Quinn Regan and Quinn Cochran, commonly known as "The Quinns" on the alternative R&B scene in Chicago, have been escaping the classic path of "rising artists" for years. Iris Temple's latest project, *Ghosts of the Future*, offers a striking portrait of life at the heart of a declining empire. Through seven tracks born at the crossroads of electronic experiences and virtuosic live instrumentation, the two artists exchange verses and sing in unison in a rich and complex harmony, over subtly frenzied underwater rhythms. The contrast between the futuristic synths and the acoustic strings that characterizes the project's soundscape reflects the ironic dissonance between its laid-back production and its biting lyrics.
