Agitators of the new jazz scene since 2010, Impérial Quartet releases with Grand Carnaval a 3rd album that perfectly illustrates the journey since Impérial Quartet (IMR, 2011) and Slim Fat (Naïve, 2013). Recorded by Alexandre "doc" Flory, in private sessions in the beautiful barn of the Footsbarn theater in La Chaussée in Allier.
Mixed by Martin Antiphon and mastered by Pierre Luzy at Music Unit in Montreuil.
For 6 years and about 200 concerts in France and abroad, Impérial Quartet continues to explore the playground offered by their original orchestration with a 3rd album to come. By sharing the entire family of saxophones, G. Chevillon and D.- Sabatier constantly invent new orchestral combinations, blending freely with the rhythm section led by J. Florent and A. Leymarie. The breathtaking energy of the musicians, their generosity and their complicity take us through, at full speed, a universe with multiple facets, inhabited by celebration, emotion, and vast spaces. No borders for this grand carnival.
