IL VOLO SINGS MORRICONE, the highly anticipated new album from the lyrical trio with tens of millions of streams and 5 million followers, Il Volo, dedicated to Maestro Ennio Morricone, will be released on November 5 worldwide! It is an exciting journey through the art and music of one of the greatest composers of the 20th century. As a sign of the high esteem they hold for him, the artists of Il Volo have decided to dedicate a part of their incredible career to Ennio Morricone, with the approval of the Maestro's family for this exclusive global project. IL VOLO SINGS MORRICONE is an album of 14 tracks recalling the legendary melodies of Ennio Morricone, forever etched in our memory, including an absolute gem: “L’estasi dell’oro” (“The Ecstasy of Gold” from the film “The Good, the Bad and the Ugly”) which, for the first time, will be accompanied by lyrics written by Andrea Morricone specifically for Il Volo. The album also contains “I colori dell’amore” (“The Colors of Love”), an unreleased track composed by Andrea Morricone for the trio and which, against all odds, was performed live for the first time, along with other pieces by Ennio Morricone, during a grand concert held at the Arena di Verona on June 5, 2021. The album was recorded at the Forum Studios in Rome, with conductor Marcello Rota leading the historic Roma Sinfonietta Orchestra, which, since its founding in 1994, has worked extensively with Ennio Morricone, performing under his musical direction in the most prestigious concert halls around the world. The album also features other sublime collaborations: violinist David Garrett in “La Califfa” (“The Lady Caliph”), Hauser from 2CELLOS in “Se” (“If”) and trumpeter Chris Botti in “Come Sail Away.” Il Volo has always felt closely connected to the Maestro, the trio having also shared the stage with him in 2011, at the Piazza del Popolo in Rome, to perform “E più ti penso” (“The More I Think of You”) in a medley of scores by Ennio Morricone from the films “Once Upon a Time in America” and “Malèna.” A record destined to go straight to the hearts of millions of people around the world, as it combines the unforgettable melodies of the famous conductor, musician, composer, and author of some of the greatest film scores in the history of Italian and international cinema with the unique voices of the trio.
