The lute concertos by Fasch, Hagen, Kohaut, Kleinknecht: a remarkably rich repertoire!After being the instrument of kings in the 17th century, a symbol of refined and learned entertainment, the lute was abandoned in the following century. A group of virtuosos and composers nevertheless refused this impending decline: these musicians shifted the epicenter of the lute's influence to the courts of Vienna, Bayreuth, and Dresden, adapting the codes and forms of the galant style, integrating the orchestra as a soloist for the first time. Miguel Rincón and Il Pomo d'Oro bring together here the concertos by Kohaut, Fasch, and Kleinknecht (in world premiere), and a trio by Hagen, also recorded here for the first time.
