Nuits

Description

A symbiosis between the art of the poet and that of the composer, the French melody became the jewel of the salons of the Belle Époque. Bringing together string quartet and piano around the singer, Chausson's Chanson perpétuelle, Lekeu's Nocturne, and Fauré's La Bonne Chanson oscillate between chamber intimacy and orchestral ambitions. Beyond these pioneering and famous works, the program proposed by the Palazzetto Bru Zane advocates for a return to the art of transcription so dear to the 19th century and aims to expand the repertoire for voice, strings, and piano to highlight some forgotten gems. Thus, we find Hahn, Berlioz, Saint-Saëns, Massenet, La Tombelle, Ropartz, Louiguy, and Messager, with the common thread being the emotions of nocturnal abandonment: the charms of twilight, the journey of dreams, the terror of nightmares, or the intoxication of celebration... The arrangements were made by Alexandre Dratwicki in the style of the 19th century. While the program concludes with La Vie en rose, it indeed presents a kaleidoscope of all the colors of human feelings. With the texture of strings and piano, it showcases the incomparable art of storyteller Véronique Gens in a new light.
