This release and the Allman Brothers at the Fillmore East are undoubtedly the two greatest live albums in rock history. The concerts of The Humble Pie were recorded on May 28 and 29, 1971, in the East Village of New York, just a month before the closure of the Fillmore East. The album, over 73 minutes long, features only seven tracks, including epic versions of Dr. John's "I Walk On Gilded Splinters" (+23 min.) and the +16 min. Muddy Waters song that named a certain English band, "Rollin' Stone." It is the atmosphere and the excellent guitar interactions between Peter Frampton and Steve Marriott that make this recording a gem.
