Overture, cello concerto, piano concerto

Description

Although of Italian sounding, Franz Danzi is a German composer of the 18th century, very little known to us, and this is the whole interest of the present recording. He is also the son of an eminent cellist from one of the best instrumental ensembles of the time, at the Court of the Elector Palatine. This undoubtedly encouraged him to write for this instrument in particular. It should be noted that he was a friend of Carl Maria von Weber, an essential milestone of the emerging German romanticism, and that he was influenced by his aesthetic. It is with pleasure that we discover here two soloists, including the French Aurélien Pascal, whose artistic presence is evident to the ear of all.
