Holding Absence has embraced a Post Metal style tinged with Rock, relying on a multifaceted singer, capable of emotion and an amplified power during the screamed phases. Building on the excellent foundations laid by the band's self-titled debut album released in 2019, most of the tracks rely on a duality and on the contrasts between dark softness and explosive rage. The Cardiff quintet thus delivers a second album of astonishing maturity, whose subtleties will reveal themselves over time. According to the band's own words, "This album is about telling stories that are presented through the prism of hindsight and regret. There are songs that celebrate life in the face of death, and others that talk about the choices we make about how we live our lives. The fear of love, the new respect for life, and the concealment of depression are all subjects that lie on your path. 'The biggest mistake of my life' evokes emotion in several ways, and that was an important thing for us, because emotion is not rigid - it’s not just love, joy, or sadness - it’s a lot of things."
