The first recording of the opera that inspired Mozart's "The Magic Flute"!The ensemble Hofkapelle München under the direction of Rüdiger Lotter presents the exceptional and historic first recording of the opera "Der Stein der Weisen oder: die Zauberinsel". This opera is considered the predecessor of W.A. Mozart's beloved masterpiece, "The Magic Flute".Its libretto was written by Emanuel Schikaneder, who would later also write the libretto for "The Magic Flute". The premiere took place on September 11, 1790. Initially, Mozart was not mentioned as a composer of the opera in the printed material, unlike Schikaneder and the three other composers Frank Xaver Gerl, Benedikt Schack, and Johann Baptist Henneberg. It was only later that his name was discovered on a copy of the score above two parts of the finale and the duet "Nun liebes Weibchen". The numerous musical and stylistic parallels between many parts of Der Stein der Weisen and similar moments in The Magic Flute indicate that Mozart drew inspiration for his opera from his own ideas as well as those of all the other participants.The Hofkapelle München and the Chor der Klangverwaltung present an exciting and colorful new recording of this little-known musical gem.
