Back in Texas after traveling the roads of Europe for six weeks alongside the legendary FATSO JETSON - and after watching them improvise every night - the band was full of inspiration. Although a bit worn out from the road, the members of HIGH DESERT QUEEN were eager to enter the studio. By freeing themselves from the metronome and accepting imperfections rather than focusing on technical perfection, the music began to flow with unprecedented fluidity. From the very first studio session following the tour, three new tracks emerged. By adopting a live-like approach and mindset, the Austin band hit the mark, as evidenced by « Palm Reader ». In many ways, HIGH DESERT QUEEN has always stood out, establishing itself as much more than just another desert rock band. Formed in Houston in 2019 by singer Ryan Garney and guitarist Rusty Miller, the duo quickly recruited drummer Phil Hook (MONTE LUNA) before settling in Austin in 2020. HIGH DESERT QUEEN had all the assets to revitalize the desert rock scene. Their varied musical influences - ranging from grunge to funk, from old school metal to doom, and much more - provide fertile ground for new ideas and a refreshing approach to the genre. Their thunderous anthems, saturated with fuzz, combine powerful grooves and catchy melodies, while benefiting from a rare emotional intelligence in this type of music. This unprecedented sound fits into the rich musical heritage of their region, giving rise to the label « Texas desert rock ».
