These last 4 boxes of the Karajan edition feature the famous recordings from the 70s-80s, with a conductor at the height of his glory, mostly made with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. The first box is dedicated to three masterpieces of choral music, with the Maestro's favorite singers: Janowitz, Tomowa-Sintow, and van Dam. The 2nd is particularly dedicated to the German romantics: Brahms, Bruckner, Wagner, or Richard Strauss, highlighted by Karajan's appetite for large symphonic constructions, in which the power of the Berlin Philharmonic is unleashed (A Hero's Life by Strauss being a perfect example).
